Description

White doctor's surgical gown that originally belonged to Dr. C.V. Basten of the TB Hospital. There is also a matching drawstring bag originally used to the store the surgical gown (2015.03.001). The gown is open in the back, and has two strips of fabric at the waist used to tie it closed. It has two short sleeves, has a small tag with with "Basten" embroidered in red thread at the collar, and "Basten" written in dark ink just below that. On the back of the collar is also stamped 1529. Part of a matching set: 2015.03.001 - 2015.03.002.

Contributor

TB Hospital artifact. Donor Diana Marlatt purchased the surgical gown and bag at the Frank House's 2003 "garage sale" for $5.00. She came to the Frank Museum on August 6, 2015 in the afternoon hoping to return (donate) the gown to the museum claiming that it no longer fit with her own private collection of historic clothing.
